The area that includes Norwalk became part of Manuel Nieto's Spanish land grant, Rancho Los Nietos.

The Sproul purchase
Atwood Sproul purchased land in the area then known as Corazón de los Valles.

Railroad access
Railroad construction reached the area after the Sproul family deeded land for a passenger stop.
